2007 Milestones
- 3,134 students and 217 teachers living in close proximity to Gunung Palung National Park participated in 218 educational events through GPOCP's environmental education program.
- Broadcasted over 80 radio shows with 12 different environment and conservation themse to more than 200,000 listeners in teh Gunung Palung area.
- Sponsored three community events, attended by over 1,100 people, to encourage ecotourism within Gunung Palung and raise awareness about the park's value to local communities.
- Created alternative sources of income, a fishermans' cooperative and a home garden project, in two villages searching for options other than converting their forests to oil palm plantations.
- Rebuilt Lubuk Baji, the campsite used for environmental education and ecotourism activities, after previous campsite damaged by insects.
- Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local government agencies and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to improve wildlife law enforcement around Gunung Palung.
- Signed a MoU with Gunung Palung National Park office, researchers, and other NGOs to create a consortium to rebuild the research station within Gunung Palung and resume orangutan research activities.
