Andrew de Sousa
Originally
from the U.S., Andrew has been involved with Indonesian civil society groups
for over a decade. His experience
with alternative income programs includes working with the Timor-Leste
Institute for Reconstruction Monitoring and Analysis in Dili. Andrew has also worked on human rights
and economic justice issues related to Central America, and as a program
manager for the State Department before joining GPOCP in 2008.

Environmental Education & Livelihoods Manager:
Mariamah 'Mayi' Achmed
Mayi
was born and raised in Kubu village, West Kalimantan. As a forestry student at Tanjungpura University in
Pontianak, in 1999 Mayi became involved with providing humanitarian assistance
to those displaced by inter-ethnic violence in West Kalimantan. From 2001-2008 Mayi worked at Lembaga
Gemawan, a leading West Kalimantan organization in the fields of grassroots
development, governmental reform and transparency, women’s rights and the
environment. She then worked in
Jakarta for WALHI, Indonesia’s largest environmental organization, before
joining GPOCP in 2009. Besides
leading GPOCP’s Environmental Education program, Mayi remains active in the
credit union, women’s development and environmental movements.

Frederik Wendy
Tamariska
Born in Sekuram, Bengkayang
(West Kalimantan), Wendy has loved to play soccer since he was a little
boy. He studied Literature and
Education at Mulawarman University in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, where he
became involved in organizing workers and the urban poor. Wendy began working
with GPOCP in 2010, impressed by the organization’s potential to defend nature
in Ketapang and Kayong Utara. Wendi is particularly committed to developing a sustainable future
through education and advocacy for the people of West Kalimantan
Ranti Naruri
Ranti Nauri first became
involved with GPOCP as a high school student in Ketapang, where she was born
and raised. Upon graduating, she joined our environmental education team. Ranti has been a dynamic conservation
mentor to local students, and can always get children excited with her
signature orangutan puppet shows.
Edward Tang
Born in Sukadana, Edward worked for a logging company before becoming a research assistant at Gunung Palung's Cabang Panti research station in 2000. After two years conducting scientific research on terrestrial mammals, Dipterocarpaceae tree species and primate
food intake, Edward joined GPOCP as an environmental educator. GPOCP is currently supporting Edward’s
studies at UNAS (The National University of Indonesia) in Jakarta, where he is
completing a degree in biological science and conservation. Inbetween studies he gets into the
field whenever possible, leading the Primate Study Forum on campus and
conducting forest surveys across Indonesia

Tito P. Indrawan
Tito's parents were teachers, and were transfered to West Kalimantan when he was just
one year old. He grew up in
Senakin village, Landak, and studied Education at Tanjungpura University in
Pontianak where he was very active in student organizations such as the nature
club and student cooperative. As a
student he lead expeditions to Ketapang and Kapuas Hulu, organized
nature-oriented competitions, and bécame a certified search and rescue
operator. He started working at GPOCP
as son as he graduated in 2000, and has worked both in Environmental Education
and on campaigns before starting the Animal and Habitat Protection
program. Tito has lead work to
establish memoranda of understanding with local government bodies, and
regularly represents GPOCP in regional and national fora.
